What Picot is
Picot is a desktop graphical interface for the Pi coding agent. It runs entirely on your own machine. There is no hosted service, no account, and no server-side component operated by us. We are not providing you with a subscription or a managed service — we are publishing software you download and run yourself.
Licence
Picot is distributed as an open source project. Your rights to use, copy, modify, and redistribute the software are granted by the licence published in the project repository, and that licence governs the software itself. Where these terms and the project licence conflict on the subject of the software, the project licence controls. Nothing here grants you rights to the Picot name or logo beyond fair descriptive use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the website or the software to:
- break any applicable law, or infringe anyone else’s rights;
- access systems, repositories, or data you are not authorised to access, including by pointing the agent at them;
- attack, overload, or disrupt the website or the infrastructure it or its downloads run on.
You are responsible for the code the agent reads and writes on your machine, and for the consequences of running it.
Third-party services
Picot is a front end for a coding agent that connects to whichever AI model provider you configure. Your use of that provider is governed by your agreement with them, including their pricing, rate limits, content policies, and privacy terms. Downloads are served from GitHub, under GitHub’s terms. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their availability, conduct, or output.
AI-generated output
Code and text produced through Picot come from an AI model and can be wrong, insecure, or unsuitable for your purpose. Review anything the agent produces before you run it, commit it, or ship it. You remain responsible for what ends up in your codebase.
No warranty
The website and the software are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that it will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or business, arising out of or connected to your use of the website or the software — including loss or corruption of code or files on your machine. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case those limitations apply only as far as the law permits.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue the website, the downloads, or any part of the software at any time, without notice. We may also revise these terms; the effective date above will change and the revision will be visible in the site’s public git history. Continuing to use the site or the software after a change means you accept the revised terms.
